Wayne Bell warming up for our Coronet Peak show for the closing of the Winter Games…
Yes I know it isn’t all over yet…but I was just re-capping in my head…and yes we got the album out…the reviews were good..and we toured the country and met some music lovers who appreciated what we do..and that was the best part!. Interpreting the songs in the duo format was a challenge…which was rewarded..also expanding the songs and adding Olly to our line up to flesh out the parts was also a lot of fun… The Lucinda Williams support…first duo gigs in at the deep end to packed houses in the Wellington and Auckland Town Halls..went out there with our nipples ablazing and did the business I think. Again with the Gary Louris and Mark Olsen support. Tour highlights..walking into a packed Cabana on a chilly wet Wednesday night playing the songs to an amazing audience who listened closely to the whole set and stayed afterwards for chats and album signings. Again at the Chicks Hotel in Port Chalmers - very special and we had our lovely Flip Grater on the bill…also meeting the rest of the band in Christchurch for a blinding show at Goodbye Blue Monday, then travelling to Queenstown where we played up Coronet Peak in a snow storm, and competed with the snow boarders for the hand dryers in the toilets to dry out our pedals and gear…and now Brett and I are off to tour Australia with Tim Finn playing guitars and singing in his band so I think life is good xxxxx
The Bads are touring NZ in August, playing some duo acoustic-ish shows and meeting the band in Wellington and Christchurch for full band shows.
Mark Olson and Gary Louris from the Jayhawks are playing an acoustic show at Kings Arms on Sunday evening (17th May) and so The Bads thought they would do the same…Brett and Dianne will be on around 6.50pm..who knows maybe there will be an audience at that time….?
